Bringing Philly's Apartments From Gold To Green

Placeholder

former shoe factory is finding new life as one of the region's most environmentally friendly upscale apartment buildings. Goldtex, a 13-story super-conversion in Callowhill, boasts a cavalcade of amenities, including a rooftop pool lounge with panoramic city views. Developer and Bisnow partner Post Brothers—led by CEO Mike Pestronk and president Matt Pestronk—gave the former factory a facelift, including thermal installation, light-spreading windows with heat-blocking coatings and a balanced heating/cooling system that uses the building's existent ambient heat. The firm is in the midst of pursuing LEED Gold certification this month, and since Goldtex has outperformed other buildings in the market because of its sustainable components—its energy saving systems conserve 15 million pounds of CO2 emissions per year—it seems very likely that it will get it.
