The United States Tennis Association plans to move its Mid-Atlantic headquarters from Reston to Manassas.

With the move, announced Wednesday, the group will build a $15M office facility and tennis complex on a 46-acre site at 8995 Ellsworth Road, a USTA spokesperson said.

The group has entered into a contract for the site, across from George Mason University's Science and Technology Campus, and expects to close on the deal in March. It hopes to complete the project by 2023.

USTA, a nonprofit aimed at promoting the growth of tennis, has 17 sections around the country. Its Mid-Atlantic office, serving 35,000 members across D.C., Maryland, Virginia and part of West Virginia, is currently based at 11410 Issac Newton Square North in Reston, though it is not accompanied by a recreational tennis complex. With the new facility, it hopes to fill a void in the area for tennis courts to meet the needs of its growing membership.

“Our vision is that this tennis complex will not only be an incredible place to learn, play and celebrate tennis for people all across the Mid-Atlantic but also serve as a center for activity for the local community and make play accessible to all ages, backgrounds and abilities living nearby,” USTA Mid-Atlantic CEO Tara Fitzpatrick-Navarro said.
