The organization that administers the SAT to prospective college students is expanding its Reston office.

The College Board is adding 74K SF to its footprint at Reston Town Center, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced Tuesday, bringing its total footprint to 235K SF.

With the expansion, the organization is creating 120 new jobs, adding to its current 614-person Reston headcount. Virginia gave The College Board a $750K grant to aid the expansion.

The College Board, which also runs the Advanced Placement program, considers the Reston outpost one of its two main offices, along with its headquarters in New York City. It also has six regional offices throughout the U.S. and a Latin American office in Puerto Rico.

The deal represents the latest win for Boston Properties in Reston, where it signed an 850K SF lease with Fannie Mae in March and a 276K SF lease with Leidos in January. The office space at Reston Town Center and the neighboring Reston Gateway development is near full occupancy, so much so that it could not accommodate the expansion of tech company Appian, which announced a move to Tysons in April.

The expansion is also more net positive demand for Northern Virginia's office market, which has led the region so far this year with its strong absorption numbers.
