Raytheon Moving Global Headquarters From Boston To Virginia

Raytheon is moving its global headquarters to be closer to the federal government, the company announced Tuesday.

The defense contracting giant is shifting its corporate address from outside of Boston to Arlington, Virginia. It recently renewed its 116K SF lease at 1100 Wilson Blvd., a skyscraper owned by Monday Properties' office tower in the Rosslyn neighborhood.

That office is home to Raytheon's Intelligence and Space business, and it is unclear if the announcement will entail an expansion.

In a statement, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin praised the move, which means four out of the five largest aerospace and defense contractors in the U.S. are now based in Northern Virginia.

"This decision to headquarter in Arlington demonstrates that the Commonwealth is the best destination for the aerospace and defense community," Youngkin said.

Raytheon is already one of Northern Virginia's largest employers and tenants. In the second quarter of 2021, Raytheon renewed a 521K SF lease in Sterling, Virginia, which ranked as the year's third-biggest lease for the region.
