One of the suburban DC counties with the least federal office space could be getting a big win from the GSA.
The GSA has proposed moving US Citizenship and Immigration Services to a 10-acre site in Prince George's County near the Branch Avenue Metro, the Washington Business Journal reports.
The site for the proposed building, rendered above, is owned by Peter N.G. Schwartz Management Co. The GSA, which released a 575k SF lease requirement for the agency, now plans to do environmental assessments on the site before moving forward.
Prince George's County is home to just 4% of federal leases, roughly 2.1M SF, compared to 15% in neighboring Montgomery County, 16% in Arlington County and 45% in the District.
County officials hope the GSA will pick the county for the biggest bid on the market, the FBI HQ. The county has two of three finalists in Greenbelt and Landover. [WBJ]
