The Wharf could soon become a hub of D.C.'s live music scene.

Hoffman-Madison Waterfront Thursday unveiled the southwest waterfront development's fourth live music destination, a 450-person venue called Union Stage.

The 7,500 SF venue was created by Daniel, Luke and Jonathan Brindley, the brothers who were behind the Jammin' Java concert venue in Vienna. Union Stage will open this fall on The Wharf's Pearl Street. It will feature rock concerts, acoustic performances, children's concerts, private events and community gatherings.

The Wharf's main music venue will be The Anthem, the 6,000-person concert hall created by 9:30 Club owner Seth Hurwitz. The Foo Fighters recently signed on to headline The Anthem's opening night on Oct. 12, and the venue has since announced Lorde and LCD Soundsystem will play there.

The development will also include Pearl Street Warehouse, a 300-person bar and live music venue opening on the entertainment-focused Pearl Street. The Wharf also will have live Irish music playing at Kirwan’s Irish Pub.

“In addition to having the most exciting restaurant environment in the city, The Wharf is also DC’s premier music and entertainment destination,” PN Hoffman CEO Monty Hoffman said in a release. “Union Stage fits in perfectly on Pearl Street, a cobblestone street with bars, food and several live music venues."

The grand opening for the 1.4M SF Phase 1 of The Wharf is set for Oct. 12. The development team last month unveiled the renderings for the 1.2M SF Phase 2, expected to break ground in Q3 2018.
