Comstock Selected For Downtown Herndon Mixed-Use Development

Comstock Herndon development

The town of Herndon has selected from the two competing proposals to redevelop a five-acre site in the center of its historic downtown.

Reston-based Comstock Partners had the winning bid, a plan for 281 residential units, 18k SF of ground-floor retail and an 18k SF arts center, the Washington Business Journal reports.

It will now draft a comprehensive agreement with the town of Herndon and hold public hearings on the project before breaking ground. Comstock hopes to deliver by November 2019.

The developer already has experience with placemaking projects in NoVa, with the much larger Reston Station and Loudoun Station, which includes 1.3M SF of office and 1,500 residential units. Unlike those two, the Herndon development will not be adjacent to a Silver Line station, although Herndon is getting one of those when Phase 2 opens. [WBJ]
