DC United's new stadium opening on Buzzard Point in 2018 will be called Audi Field.
The German car manufacturer has purchased the stadium's naming rights for at least a decade, Bloomberg reports.
While the price was not disclosed, Audi's deal is reportedly one of the three most-expensive MLS naming rights agreements. The Los Angeles Football Club's agreement with Bank of California, one of the two largest, went for $6.6M per year.
The 19,000-seat stadium will also feature a retail corridor and a 40k SF public plaza. It was designed by Populous, the same architecture firm that designed Nationals Park and Camden Yards. Local developers expect it to revitalize the Buzzard Point area in the same way Nats Park sparked a development boom in Capitol Riverfront.
