Uber is Making a Big DC Expansion. Here's Where.

Uber is planning to relocate to a larger DC HQ this fall. The company has signed a lease with Bentall Kennedy for 73k SF at 1717 Rhode Island NW, increasing its office footprint by more than 500%.

The new digs are in a 157k SF office building near Scott Circle. Uber will initially occupy about 55k SF but plans to occupy the full 73k SF it has leased as growth continues. Uber has already subleased its current 14k SF space at 1875 Connecticut Ave NW (Bisnow's DC operation is temporarily at WeWork in the same building). DC serves as the East Coast HQ for the popular transportation company that has seen explosive growth. For 2015, the company is projected to exceed $10B in global bookings.

Lincoln Property has been marketing the building on behalf of Bentall Kennedy. The unique layout of old and new construction is now fully leased with Uber on board. McBride Real Estate Services repped Uber for both its current and previous DC leases. [WBJ]
