The 10 Hottest Submarkets in DC

Some are calling it a Golden Age in DC development, but with the cranes and crews swarming around the city, it's looking more like a Platinum Age. We've selected 10 of the hottest submarkets to highlight this Friday at our Bisnow Development Boom Summit at the Downtown Renaissance.

Fisher Brothers' Peter Cole (left, whom we snapped with Studley's Tom Fulcher and art dealer Mark Meyers last year) will discuss the burgeoning H Street NE corridor. His firm is readying a 377-unit apartment complex with 23k SF of retail at 701 2nd Street NE, in an area that Forbes has called one of the hippest neighborhoods in America. (If we had to think of one person who is the tastemaker when it comes to hip, it's Steve Forbes.)

Shaw is another white-hot destination for both residents and office tenants thanks to projects like Progression Place, the Wonder Bread building, and Roadside Development's CityMarket at O, which the firm's Armond Spikell, right, will discuss at Friday's event.

Capitol Crossing, Property Group Partners' 2.2M SF project that's just beginning construction over 395, will be one of the biggest—and most complicated—projects the District's ever seen. (Though nothing is harder than explaining to an out-of-town contractor why he can't park on J Street.) We're excited to have PGP's Bob Braunohler (here at a Bisnow Schmoozarama last year) on the stage to give us the latest.

Marc Dubick's Duball LLC is helping spur the Petworth boom, with a 218-unit apartment complex and new ground-floor Safeway at 3828 Georgia Ave. Marc, who'll also be speaking this Friday, tells us the Safeway will open June 27, with apartment leasing to start soon afterwards. Sign up here to hear from these four hotspots, as well as Ft. Totten, the 11th and 12th Street Retail Corridor, Barracks Row and Hill East, Mt. Vernon Triangle, Penn Quarter, Capital Riverfront, and Petworth. Hmm, now we count 11 submarkets. Well, whatever it is, sign up now and come join us!
