DC State Fair to Feature Pot-Growing Contest

In celebration of DC's new pot laws, the DC State Fair is holding a contest for who can grow the "best buds." Marijuana is legal to grow, possess and smoke in the District, and the best growers can compete for who has the best looking, feeling and smelling cannabis. The judges will analyze whether the weed looks good and has sparkly crystals; whether it smells sweet, spicy or musky; whether it's sticky; and the backstory behind the plant, DCist reports. The competition is a perfect fit for a state fair—regardless of the statehood of the fair's location—considering many of the other activities involve eating copious amounts of fried food. [DCist]
