It looks like a long-stalled mixed-use project, decades in the making, may finally be moving forward. The hotel-anchored development at Michigan Avenue NE and Irving Street in Edgewood has already been approved by the DC Zoning Commission four times—in 1991, 2009, 2011 and 2013—but economic factors have hampered progress. Now Conference Center Associates—a JV of Hospitality Partners, the H Street Community Development Corp and architect Ted Mariani—has submitted a few tweaks to the panel, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The evolved blueprint has a dual flag Residence Inn and Courtyard by Marriott, with 168 rooms each, a 58-foot-tall parking garage, 600 parking spaces, a 40k SF conference center, and an additional 26,194 SF for the originally planned nine-story hotel. There will also be a glass walkway linking the hotel to the garage. The project's second two-year extension to file building permit applications will expire in a few months, and a third extension has been requested through July 31, 2016.
