Is east of the Anacostia River where it's at?

KW Commercial's Anthony Bolling (second from right) says projects east of the river are the city's most exciting, highlighting the St. Elizabeths campus, Sheridan Station, and the Skyland redevelopment. Anthony adds that older housing is bringing an influx of developers revamping those properties as affordable housing, creating an entirely new neighborhood experience. With 10,000 students graduating from DC's colleges per year and 1,000 new residents moving to the city every month, Anthony says it won't take long to fill up. Last night, we caught up with Anthony at the African-American Real Estate Professionals DC state of the market, where we also ran into AAREP DC prez Craig Dean of Knoll, AAREP VP Keyia Yalcin of Yalcin Group, and DHS architect Thomas Brokaw, who's also the 2013 prez of the National Association of Minority Architects DC chapter. We did our best Tom Brokaw impression for him, but he was not impressed.

Also spotted: McDonald's area real estate manager Randall Clark and Gates Hudson's Jamie Medlay. Randall says the Golden Arches just opened up a new location at National Harbor and renovated a South Capitol Street location. He also confirmed that Groundhog Day is too early to ask for a Shamrock Shake.
