The next industry getting the Airbnb treatment is here: private boats. Boatbound is a platform that allows private boat owners to rent out their boats for a day or half-day to users of the app, much like Airbnb and apartments, or Getaway and cars. The service has been in DC since last year, but founder Aaron Hall is stepping up the service in the region, according to the Washingtonian. Boatbound takes a 35% cut of each rental, which are typically several hundred dollars, with some as high as $3,600 for one day. [Wash]
