BASH Arrives!

400 attendees packed the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia yesterday for Bisnows first-ever National student housing conference ("BASH"--the A stands for Annual), a two-day crash course on this hot sector, featuring tons of schmoozing in close proximity to the Liberty Bell, so you can ring it every time you make a student housing deal. Attendees are awaiting a major announcement from Education Realty Trust, one of the three largest student housing REITs, when the stock market closes today. Some of the conference's big takeaways so far: strong Internet and cell phone coverage is more important than hot water, new developers must partner with experienced players to get financing, and dont make building decisions based just on enrollment (that stat fluctuates).
