West Don Lands Has Been Named A Finalist Of Uli's Global Awards For Excellence.

The West Don Lands development has been selected as one of 25 world finalists for the Urban Land Institute’s 2017 Global Awards For Excellence.

The 32-hectare development — which transformed former industrial lands into a mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly, riverside community — joins Vancouver’s Marine Gateway as the only two Canadian developments among the ULI honourees. Other finalists include projects from Asia, Europe and elsewhere in North America.

“We are honoured to have worked for clients who envisioned these exemplary projects,” Ledcor Construction President Peter Hrdlitschka said in a ULI news release.

Ledcor was involved with both the West Don and Marine Gateway projects.

“Marine Gateway and West Don Lands are world-class developments that were built to enrich local communities,” Hrdlitschka said. “The collaboration and teamwork between developers, designers and other members of the project team were remarkable on both of these multifaceted projects.”

The Global Awards finalists were selected by an international jury made up of ULI members with real estate development expertise in the fields of finance, land planning, development, public affairs, design and other professional services.

Winners will be announced at the 2017 ULI fall meeting in Los Angeles in October.
