City of Toronto chief planner Jennifer Keesmaat will sit down for a discussion with Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion at a ULI event Feb. 27 at the Toronto Board of Trade. Under the Mayors leadership, Mississauga was able to amalgamate smaller communities like Streetsville and Port Credit into a larger suburban municipality while, embracing a vision of its future based on sustainability, place-making, recognizing the importance of creativity and diversity of urban form, she tells us. Those who come out can expect a robust discussion delving into the mayors career, roadblocks, achievements in areas like city building and leadership. Hazel McCallion was elected Mayor of Mississauga in 1978 and is currently serving her 12thterm. The deadline to register is Feb. 25.
