Portland development firm Gerding Edlen finished first in Sound Transit's competition to build 418 units of housing, along with retail space, at the light rail station in Capitol Hill. When an agreement is finalized, the four buildings will be on Broadway at East John Street. The two-acre site will also include a plaza, community center and daycare facility, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports. Gerding Edlen proposes that for 12 years, 38% of the apartments will rent for less than market rate. [PSBJ]
