Swinerton is celebrating its 130th anniversary by refreshing its logo to represent the company’s strategy of thinking outside the box.

“We felt it was time to make some changes,” Swinerton Vice President Division Manager Dave Worley said. “In the new logo, the arm extending outside of the box signifies a limitless future.”

Worley, who is based in Seattle, believes the company’s longevity can be attributed to its product diversity. While the San Francisco-based firm is known mostly as a construction company, it also has departments that focus on renewable energy and waste-to-energy.

In addition to the company’s diverse product portfolio, the company is employee-owned. Worley feels that increases employee commitment and work quality.

The Washington state Native American tribes have been some of the company’s most important customers, Worley said. Swinerton built several casinos for different tribes up and down the Interstate 5 corridor.

“As with any business partner, working with tribes is built around trust and developing a relationship,” Worley said. “The Native Americans certainly want to pick trusted partners. When you’ve done work with Washington tribes, the word gets around. We’ve got great relationships with many tribes.”

In the Seattle area, Swinerton is building the 12-story 333 Dexter Ave., a $370M office building near the Space Needle. The building is expected to be complete in the summer of 2019. Swinerton is also working with the South Korean government on the Korean Consulate building, which will be built in Lower Queen Anne. That building should be done next summer as well.
