Liz Hart, a longtime fixture in San Francisco’s CRE community, is now part of Newmark's executive leadership team in the newly created president of leasing role, installing her in an echelon of leadership in the industry seldom seen by women.

As president of leasing, Hart will oversee Newmark’s strategy around its leasing business, including offerings to tenants, landlords and investors, leveraging the company’s technology infrastructure.

Hart started her career in San Francisco and worked with some of the country’s biggest names in tech as they grew their footprints. She has completed transactions totaling $4.2B and nearly 35M SF, according to a release from Newmark. She joined the New York-based company in 2005.

She also led Newmark’s technology services group, which specializes in companies in tech, media, advertising and more. As she begins her new role, she will remain in San Francisco and keep working with her clients there, according to the San Francisco Business Times, which first reported her promotion Tuesday.

“Liz’s comprehensive knowledge of the industry and our clients’ needs and her thorough involvement in our platform, service lines and team, combined with her focused energy make her the ideal leader to continue to elevate our practice,” Newmark Tenant Rep Chairman Neil Goldmacher said in the release. “I am excited to work with Liz to further grow our business.”

As a member of the executive leadership team reporting directly to Newmark CEO Barry Gosin, Hart is one of a few women to reach the highest levels at the world’s major brokerage houses. More women and people of color are climbing the ranks in CRE, but change has been slow in a field traditionally dominated by white men.
