South S.F.'s Dome Construction inked a lease today in the heart of the city, expanding its Bay Area footprint with 2,000 SF in Jackson Square at 850 Montgomery. It's a strategic move for the tenant, according to Dome project manager Dustin Marzalek. The big biotech contractor counts Genentech as a client (Dome's HQ sits on its campus) and wants to go back to its roots and compete in San Francisco's booming TI biz. Dome looked at various spots in the city before settling on 850 (a deal in SoMa fell through, he tells us). Colliers brokered the lease. Under the deal, Dome will sublease initially from a tenant inside, and then direct lease with the landlord after that. The Brereton-designed pad will feature exposed brick and tons of natural light. Dome will gut the place and the new layout will have a super comfy lounge area and kitchen/bar area for people to hang out, he tells us. Some of its windows overlook the Cigar Bar’s courtyard (hello happy hour). We hear Dome's VP is so pumped on the place he is going to work there full time. Dome's also got an option to expand within the building.
