When the lights return to the Bay Bridge at the end of this month, Tishman Speyer's Lumina will be one of the sponsors that helped make it happen.

The Bay Lights, a display that dazzled with shifting ripples of light across the bridge, was originally designed to mark the 75th anniversary of the Bay Bridge in 2013 and scheduled to last two years. It last lighted the Bay in early 2015 before shutting down in March for cable maintenance.

Now, Illuminate, a nonprofit arts organization, is bringing back artist Leo Villareal's art installation through $4M in contributions from private donors. The Bay Lights, which will light up once again Jan. 30, will be maintained going forward by Caltrans.

The installation is visible from Lumina, and Tishman Speyer wanted to help make the artwork a permanent installation, says senior managing director Carl Shannon. For Lumina's video on The Bay Lights, click here.
