Airbnb wants a better relationship with its host community. The home-sharing company launched several initiatives in early March that offer hosts who rent out their homes ways to provide feedback to the San Francisco-based tech company, East Bay Times reports.

Participants in the newly launched Host Advisory Council will be allowed to attend one Airbnb board meeting each year to voice concerns to the company’s investors, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said during a meeting with 50 landlords.

Other initiatives include holding quarterly question-and-answer sessions on Facebook Live and sending periodic email updates.

Airbnb head of global policy and public affairs Chris Lehane said working with hosts benefits Airbnb since this group plays a key role in lobbying local governments and fighting the hotel industry.

Chesky also said he would add head of community to his title, and he would be accountable to the Airbnb landlord community just as he is accountable to his employees.

Airbnb previously launched a Friendly Buildings Program to provide apartment building owners with a way to share profits from resident hosts and to better monitor host activities within their buildings.

This effort comes on the heels of one of the nation’s biggest multifamily landlords filing a lawsuit against Airbnb.
