Friday the 13th brought good news for more than 135 Bay Area women, who attended the San Francisco ChallengeHER event at downtown's PG&E Auditorium. Congresswoman Jackie Speier said she's working to strengthen the government contracting environment for women-owned businesses. The joint initiative from the US SBA, Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), and American Express OPEN helps women biz owners learn the ins and outs of federal contracting and provide an avenue for government agencies to meet qualified women-owned contractors. Attendees learned about the SBA’s Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract program and received tips and advice from local female contractors.
