Chicago-based CA Ventures, through its division CA Senior Living LLC, has broken ground on two senior living communities in Arizona: the 101-unit Quail Park of Oro Valley, north of Tucson, and the 115-unit Quail Park at Morrison Ranch in Gilbert. Seattle-based Living Care Lifestyles will operate both communities, which will offer a mix of assisted living and memory care residences. The communities are slated to open in summer 2018.

"The current supply of senior housing in the region is dated, and as more adult children begin acting as decision-makers for this older generation, they're gravitating to buildings that feel more like home," CA Senior Living president Ben Burke said.

For instance, Quail Park at Morrison Ranch's design, created by Chicago-based BKV Group, features a farmhouse style with a large southern viewing tower, evoking the storied past of Morrison Ranch, according to Burke.

The properties represent both CA Senior Living and Living Care Lifestyles' first foray in Arizona. CA Senior Living opened its first community in 2016 and has a growing portfolio that includes 11 communities operating or under construction, totaling about 1,400 units. The Arizona communities will join 14 others Living Care operates or has under construction in California, Texas, Oregon and Washington.
