Alliance Top Apartment Developer

Phoenix-based Alliance Residential Co had the most apartment starts in the US in 2014, according to the National Multifamily Housing Council: 7,500. Currently the company has 11,000 units under construction, including projects in Phoenix and Scottsdale (such as The Stetson, pictured), but it's active all over the country. Last year was the company's best production year since its founding in 2000, the Phoenix Business Journal reports. Other firms active in Arizona were also among NMHC's Top 10 for starts: Wood Partners (No. 3), Lennar Multifamily Communities (No. 5), Trammell Crow Residential (No. 7) and Lincoln Property Co (No. 10).
