Irish Pharmaceutical Firm Expands In Center City's Commerce Square

Ireland-based Jazz Pharmaceuticals is expanding its footprint in Philadelphia by  consolidating from two smaller locations.

Jazz signed a 46K SF lease in One Commerce Square in May, with plans to move in next year. Currently, the biopharmaceutical company subleases 11K SF at neighboring Two Commerce Square and occupies 19K SF at nearby 1818 Market St., the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The upgrade from 30K to 46K SF is thanks to multiple years of double-digit employee growth, according to a company spokesman, and is welcome news for an office market more used to densification than expansion at this point.

Both Commerce Square buildings, a stone's throw from Comcast's headquarters and under-construction technology center, are owned by Brandywine Realty Trust. Jazz was represented by JLL.
