Convention & Visitors Bureau Moves into Creative Space

The interior design and architectural firm Nelson recently completed 12k SF of new office space for the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau at 1601 Market St near City Hall. Nelson managing principal Angel DeElse tells us the space represents the bureau's transition to a more open, flexible and cutting-edge work environment. (She's snapped with TD Bank's Suzanne Conway and Nelson CFO Anthony Manuelli.) Yet the open plan also includes enclaves for private discussions, quiet space for heads-down working, huddle rooms to collaborate, and enclosed conference rooms for meetings.

In lieu of private offices, the floor plan includes bench seating for everyone, including the executive team. The heart of the space is the Kitchen Table, which fosters casual meetings and touchdown workspace for mobile sales teams, notes Angel. A central multi-purpose room, which utilizes flexible furniture, a movable wall, and plug-and-play technology, provides for an array of functions, including staff lunches, training, promotional events and quarterly board meetings.
