Rancho Mission Viejo is growing with the addition of 877 homes to Esencia.
The grand opening for Esencia Village took place yesterday.
The Esencia community is being built in three phases on 890 acres of the historic Rancho Mission Viejo cattle ranch. It consists of mostly houses, but also apartments, according to the Orange County Register.
Esencia has 2,810 homes.
Canyon House Neighborhoods is part of the first phase. It opened Sept. 20 of last year with 840 homes in 12 neighborhoods.
That development is now 60% sold out. [OCR]
