At the ULI Fall Meeting’s Northeast Corridor party at 5 Manhattan West, we snapped Columbia MSRED Class of ’15 candidate Sawyabh Taori and ULI NY executive director Felix Ciampi. ULI New York planned all the tours that were part of the national conference, and they were a huge success, he says, especially because they happened on Monday and Friday, the only days it didn't rain.

Streetsense’s Matt Hopkins, whom we snapped with Christopher Consultants’ Bill Zink, is working on Springfield Avenue Marketplace shopping center in Newark. It’s rising on the site of three buildings where much of the shooting occurred during the 1967 race riots; they were later demolished, and the site lay fallow for decades, Matt says, making the community-serving retail a nice turnaround story. Bill, who married off two of his four daughters this summer, was advising Matt, the father of 12-year-old twin girls, on what’s to come. Bill’s advice to avoid crying while walking down the aisle: Talk about horses.

And at the JLL party in Meatpacking’s Provocateur, we snapped Deutsche Bank Asset and Wealth Management’s Janice Lee and David Weiner flanking JLL’s Chris Espenshade of Baltimore.

And Deutsche A&W’s Terence Callahan and Sandra Fung, along with JLL’s Travis D’Amato and David Wojciechowski. David, who’s based here in New York, is marketing a 3.5M SF portfolio of 25 retail properties in 14 states for $250M, and he and Travis (from Boston) are working on the 140-acre Carnegie Abbey residential resort in Newport, RI.

Synapse Capital’s Nathan Desa and Paul Apostolakis also were navigating the packed house. They’ve got a new brand for residential developments called Perch that rethinks urban living, and projects are going up in Harlem, Williamsburg, and San Francisco.
