With the former Jehovah's Witnesses Watchtower headquarters sold and on its way to being repurposed, the days are numbered for the bright reminder of its former life.
Jehovah's Witnesses filed for a permit with the New York City Department of Buildings to take down the Watchtower sign, a process the religious group says will cost $70,500, The Real Deal reports.
No official word has been given about the sign's future, but the framework holding it up will remain, leaving the possibility a future tenant of the complex to be rebranded as Panorama could occupy the prominent place in Brooklyn's skyline with a sign of its own.
A group of Kushner Cos., LIVWRK and CIM Group purchased the Watchtower complex from Jehovah's Witnesses in the summer of 2016, as part of the latter's massive sell-off of its Brooklyn portfolio as the group moves to upstate New York.
