Sean Black Given The Boot From WeWork After Jersey City Comments

A week after saying that Jersey City had no life, vibrancy, vibe or cool factor, Sean Black’s (pictured) parting ways with WeWork.

It’s not clear whether Sean’s comments on one of WeWork’s newest markets is the reason for his departure, or if the separation was amicable, The Real Deal reports.

The co-working giant plans to open a 101k SF space in Kushner Cos One Journal Square tower, and is also considering putting a new WeLive in the same building.

Sean’s comments drew immediate ire from Jersey City residents, including council member Candice Osborne and one user who said Sean and WeWork “can get out of Jersey City and stay out.”

Sean joined WeWork as EVP back in March, overseeing the company’s East Coast expansion. Before then, he had worked less than a year as a Cushman & Wakefield leasing broker and spent six years as a leasing broker at JLL. [TRD]
