The Trump Organization Is Suing A Saudi Prince For Unpaid Rent

President Donald Trump's family business is suing Prince Faisal Bin Abdul Majeed Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, claiming it is owed in excess of $1.8M for rent he did not pay at Trump Park Avenue.

In total, The Trump Organization is seeking $3.7M, The Real Deal reports. The complaint, lodged in Manhattan court, claims the prince stopped paying rent for his penthouse in the building in January 2017, although his lease allegedly goes until June of next year.

The developer also wants damages of an amount to be decided by the court, according to the publication. The company is now run by Trump’s sons, Eric and Donald Jr., who stepped into the roles when their father took office.

Trump Hotel Collection CEO Eric Danziger said at a Bisnow event last month that domestic expansion is the focus for the company while Trump is president. He said that the firm had to walk away from 47 international deals when Trump was elected.

The lawsuit is another in a string of disputes at Trump owned and branded properties. In New York and elsewhere, the owners of several Trump-branded buildings are working to strip the name from their facades. The Upper West Side condo Trump Place, for example, is taking legal action to have the banner removed. In 2016, 140, 160 and 180 Riverside Blvd. successfully dropped the Trump tag following a petition from residents.
