Robert A.M. Stern Architects senior partner Robert Stern, Silverstein Properties chairman Larry Silverstein and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts president/CEO J. Allen Smith met Wednesday to open the Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown at 30 Park Place.

The hotel occupies the bottom third of the 926-foot, 82-story tower and houses a full-service spa, a health club with a pool and CUT, Wolfgang Puck’s first NYC restaurant. Designed by Yabu Pushelberg, more than one-quarter of the hotel’s 185 rooms are suites, including a 3,700 SF royal suite.

Sharing a city block with the Woolworth Building, the tower has a limestone base and cast stone shaft, and can be accessed from the main entrance at 27 Barclay St or through CUT’s direct entrance at 99 Church St.

The residences at 30 Park Place include 157 luxury condos, a 75-foot heated indoor pool, a fitness center, a lounge area, a children’s room, and a private entrance and lobby for residents. Silverstein has sold over 75% of the condos, the developer says.

Larry said the hotel, alongside the World Trade Center transportation hub that opened earlier this year, will make Lower Manhattan a premier place for business. According to the Downtown Alliance, more than 3,500 new residential units and 2,200 new hotel rooms have opened in the last five years, and more than 14.2 million visitors came to the area last year.

Silverstein bought the former Moody’s corporate HQ building in 2007 with the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS).  The tower’s $1B financing was provided by the Children’s Investment Fund Management, and construction began in December 2013.
