Another skyscraper could be coming to Manhattan's West Side near the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
The Peebles Corp., Exact Capital Group, the Witkoff Group and McKissack & McKissack have joined forces to propose development of a skyscraper atop Site K, a 1.2-acre plot at 418 11th Ave., along the western edge of Manhattan, New York YIMBY reports.
The proposed tower is set to reach 1,663 feet high, with a roof height of 1,553 feet — which would make it the tallest roof in the Western Hemisphere, Peebles Corp. Chief of Staff Donahue Peebles III told Bisnow in an email Wednesday.
The proposed development would include two hotels, a rooftop terrace, a skating rink and office space among other amenities, according to a request for proposals from the developers. The David Adjaye-designed project would put 30,000 to work to build the skyscraper and employ another 15,000 once it’s finished, per YIMBY.
Three of the four developers on the submission — Peebles Corp., Exact Capital Group and McKissick & McKissick — are minority-owned businesses. The land is owned by Empire State Development, a state public benefit corporation.
“This project is emblematic of true equity in development — a symbol for all who visit New York, cementing in brick and mortar that New York is serious about economic inclusion,” Peebles Corp. founder, Chairman and CEO Don Peebles told Commercial Observer Friday.
