The Asbury — the first hotel to launch in Asbury Park in over 50 years upon its 2016 opening — recently nabbed the No. 1 spot in USA Today’s list of 10 Best New Hotels, determined by popular vote.

The 110-room property is the first major project in iStar’s 10-year, multibillion-dollar redevelopment plan that aims to transform 1.25 miles of Asbury Park’s waterfront. The town is well-known for attractions like its boardwalk and the legendary Stone Pony.

USA Today pointed out that guests use The Asbury as not only a hotel, but a social hub thanks to its grab-and-go kitchen, ground-floor lounge with pingpong and board games, a community table and a pool used during warmer months.

The list is rounded out by San Antonio’s Hotel Emma; Scottsdale’s Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa; Mystic, CT’s Spicer Mansion; Lexington, KY’s 21 Museum Hotel Lexington; Fort Bragg, CA’s The Inn at Newport Ranch; Kapolei, HI’s Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina; Washington, DC’s Watergate Hotel; New York City’s The Beekman; and New Orleans’ Ace Hotel New Orleans.
