In another step toward becoming an end-to-end office space provider, WeWork acquired the project management application FieldLens to manage its construction operations.
Founded in 2011, FieldLens is a construction industry-focused mobile communication system that raised $8M in Series A funding in 2014, Construction Dive reports. Prior to the deal, WeWork was a FieldLens customer and used the software to help manage its construction efforts.
Those efforts have been ramping up, and WeWork Chief Product Officer David Fano said the company is adding between five and 10 new locations globally every month. The deal follows WeWork’s move to oversee the design, development and management of office facilities for large corporations through a new business called Onsite Solutions. This move could put the startup into direct competition with industry giants like CBRE and JLL.
