The final project in Manhattan’s southernmost park is finally planned—guests at the Battery Conservancy benefit this week saw the plans, which include treehouses, granite slides and gardens.
The Battery Playscape will be the last project in the two-plus decade renovation of the 25-acre park at the bottom of Manhattan, and is designed by BKSK Architects and Starr Whitehouse, Bloomberg reports. The planned treehouse will be partly handicap-accessible and provide views of the Hudson River on one side, and a stark contrast on the other—the skyscrapers of NYC.
There will even be slides made of granite, so kids don’t get scorched legs in the summer, and a theater where children can put on their own shows. [Bloomberg]
