Modular construction can shave years off a project’s timeline, and despite claims that the practice leads to cookie-cutter rooms, hotel developers are increasingly relying on the method.
Modular rooms were recently used to build the 249-room Pod Hotel in Brooklyn, the 410-room Canyon Lodge & Cabins in Yellowstone National Park and the 142-room AC Hotel in Oklahoma City, Hotel News Now reports.
The practice minimizes weather-related delays, since completed, customized rooms arrive sealed and are put into place and connected to the building’s mechanical systems on-site. Experts predict more brands will start using the modular construction method, especially because modular rooms can be made consistently, which helps uphold brand reputation. [HNN]
