It Doesn’t Look Like The Fed Will Raise Rates In April

The Fed is expected to hold rates steady in April and do everything it can not to rock the boat at its meeting next week.

While several Fed officials indicated they were in favor of upping the interest rate this April, in the last few days the Atlanta and Philadelphia Fed presidents seem to have changed their minds, MarketWatch reports.

“The chance of a Fed rate hike appear to be nil,” says Sam Bullard, a senior economist at Wells Fargo.

The Fed's band of bankers will meet behind closed doors on April 26-27, and will release their decision at the end of the second day. The central back has been consistently scaling back its rate hike predictions for 2016, down from four to two as of its last meeting. [MW]
