Will Trump’s $1 Trillion Infrastructure Overhaul Include Public Properties?

US infrastructure remains a hot topic since the presidential election, with President-elect Donald Trump pushing plans to invest $1 trillion in US infrastructure improvements without adding to the national deficit.

There are questions about how Trump plans to execute these massive investments without raising taxes and whether public buildings in need of facelifts will be included in the infrastructure overhaul. In a recent study by the American Institute of Architects, experts expressed the need for investments in US public libraries, schools, community centers and other public spaces.

New York Sen. Charles Schumer said Trump’s proposal could come to fruition should Congress reach an agreement on the bill within Trump’s first 100 days, Construction Dive reports. The need to repair aging highways, bridges and utilities is evident to both sides of the aisle, Schumer says, and the bill would likely be funded through “substantial and direct federal spending.” [CD]
