The widow of a Harvard-educated “mathematical genius” killed in February’s crane collapse is suing the city for $600M.
Rebecca Wichs’ notice of claim seeks $550M to cover her 38-year-old husband’s lost wages. That’s on top of $25M to cover the “conscious pain and suffering” David Wichs endured in the collapse, as well as $25M for Rebecca’s loss of love and companionship, the New York Post reports.
A spokesperson for city comptroller Scott Stringer told the Post his office “has determined that this claim cannot be settled pre-litigation.”
David Wichs was the only fatality in February’s collapse, which left 15 others injured. One of those, a 73-year-old man who suffered a traumatic brain injury in the collapse, is also suing the city, for $30M. [NYP]
