Triple Deuce Sails in to Claim the Title of Largest Yacht in the World

On land there's the race to build the world's tallest building, but a whole different race is occurring at sea. And in that race, there's a new sheriff in town: the 728-ft yacht Triple Deuce. Not only will the Triple Deuce eclipse the current champion, the 590-ft Azzam, as the world's biggest, but it will even give some cruise ships an inferiority complex, Yacht International reports. Has your jaw hit the floor yet? Because we've only just begun. One billionaire and 35 of his closest friends will be able to spread out on this giant yacht, supported by a 90 to 100-member crew. Compare that to the Costa Classic cruise ship, which carries 1,308 passengers and 590 crewmembers across its 722 feet. The Triple Deuce is pretty fast too, with triple gas turbine engines generating over 100K horsepower and propelling it to a projected top speed of over 30 knots.

Now let's look at the accommodations: a two-story; 2,960 SF owner's suite that takes up nearly an entire deck on the seven-deck yacht, and features two state rooms, private access to a helipad, an exclusive drive-in dock, and an elevator, plus a private gym, office and study, dining area, a butler's stateroom and other luxury amenities. Meanwhile, guests will enjoy four 968 SF VIP suites and 12 guest suites of more than 645 SF. They'll also have access to an indoor and outdoor pool, multiple Jacuzzis, a spa with a full-time masseuse, a hairstylist and barber, and tons of water toys. Who is this billionaire and how can we befriend him? Unfortunately, that information is not available. 4Yacht Inc initially set out to build a $200M yacht, but when the Azzam launched at $180M, Triple Deuce's owner upped the ante, hoping to keep his record for as long as possible. The Triple Deuce is expected to cost around $1.1B to $1.2B and an additional $20M to $35M/year in maintenance. A target delivery date for the Triple Deuce is set for spring 2018. [YI]
