Zaha Hadid was perhaps the greatest female architect—it’s fair to say she expanded the possibilities of contemporary design more than any architect working today.
And just days before her death, Zaha shared one final insight, offering a window into her thoughts on her first, and last, NYC building: an 11-story luxury condo building adjacent to the High Line at 520 West 28th St.
“I always thought the building should have a connection to the High Line," Zaha said in her final interview, three days before passing, the NY Post reports.
"When you have a neighborhood that is quite fresh and new, it can give you certain freedom to do new things.”
Among many notable accomplishments, Hadid was the first woman to win architecture’s prestigious Pritzker Prize. [NYP]
