Allied London's eight month hunt for a partner to develop the Trinity Island skyscraper cluster in central Manchester has ended where it began: with Renaker, the city's dominant force in high-rise residential.

The 1,500 unit residential scheme on a site at Wilburn Basin and One Regent Square, Trinity Way has been sold to Renaker. The scheme includes towers of varying heights including Tower X, which will reach 67 storeys and become Manchester's tallest.

Instead of opting for a development partner, Allied London have sold outright in a move that clears their desk of a mighty scheme which might have overshadowed their mixed-use St John's development.

"Daren Whitaker and his team at Renaker have a proven track record as a residential developer and contractor in Manchester and are one of the few capable of developing the site and building high. I have every confidence that Renaker will make the project a huge success," Allied London Chief Executive Mike Ingall said.

"Allied London can now focus completely on delivering our other important Manchester developments, such as the St. John's masterplan and Enterprise City”.

Allied London were advised by Shoosmiths and CBRE.
