The Sun Rising On Middlewood Locks

Central Manchester’s 25,000-unit build-to-rent pipeline is about to gush in Salford.

Build-to-rent operator Get Living, has launched its first 275 new homes at New Maker Yards at Middlewood Locks, located between Manchester and Salford. Once complete, New Maker Yards, at more than 800 homes, will be the largest build-to-rent development outside London. A second phase of 546 further homes is under construction.

The scheme is being developed by Scarborough Group, Hualing Group of China and Singapore-listed Metro Holdings, and built by BCEGI.

New Maker Yards is Get Living’s first location outside London, where it has more than six years’ experience and is best known for supporting the growth of East Village, a vibrant new neighbourhood at the former London 2012 Athletes’ Village.

The launch of New Maker Yards will take Get Living to 3,000 operational homes this year within an 8,000-home development portfolio across five big-city neighbourhoods in Manchester, London, Leeds and Glasgow.

New Maker Yards residents will be able to take advantage of a range of communal spaces, including a residents' clubroom open from autumn 2019, which will provide space for resident events and networking, as well as a home working hub and green space.

Beijing Construction and Engineering Group International is also an equity and construction partner in the £1B Airport City project at Manchester Airport and the preferred contractor for the new £1B Salford mixed-use development Middlewood Locks.
