What's Neue at Columbia Square?

Kilroy just signed a 93k SF lease with New York-based NeueHouse, which will open a membership workspace collective in the newly renovated historic buildings at Columbia Square. According to Kilroy, the 15-year deal is the largest lease to be signed in Hollywood in more than 15 years. NeueHouse (pronounced "noy house") is the perfect complement to the historic building, Kilroy rep Carl Muhlstein of JLL told us yesterday. The tenant had been in the market for some time and it was difficult for the company to find the right fit and the right landlord match. NeueHouse fell in love with the building and setting, Carl says, because "it's adaptive reuse, but it's a completely new building on the inside," and central to all the entertainment, media, and new media in Hollywood. The company also found Columbia Square's residential component attractive.

Neuehouse's first location, 110 E 25th St in NYC, opened in May 2013 and sold out within three months. Venture capitalists Joshua Abram and Alan Murray founded NeueHouse as a new model for collaborative workplaces, catering to “solopreneurs” and teams of up to 20 people. The center provides a full array of services for socializing and working, including recording, post-production and broadcast facilities, events, and food service. Carl says the Hollywood location will serve as an amenity for the balance of Columbia Square, as well as for Kilroy's other developments in the Sunset/Vine corridor. Newmark Grubb Knight Frank's Steve Kolsky and Neal Golden repped NeueHouse.
