A new report provides more details about what could happen to the former LAPD headquarters in DTLA if it becomes a new municipal office building as proposed by the city.
The Bureau of Engineering is proposing knocking down part of the building at the corner of Temple and John Aliso streets.
The plans include adding 750k SF of office space, around 20k SF of retail space and an approximately 750-car garage, according to Urbanize LA. The new building would be 29 stories tall.

Historic preservationists had balked at plans to tear down the current eight-story building, so a compromise plan to preserve the Parker Center was proposed.
This alternative plan could add $107M to the cost of the project. It would also take a year longer to complete to give the city time to revise its EIR.
The LA Cultural Heritage Commission still hopes to help the Parker Center get a historic cultural monument designation. [ULA]
