After local residents voiced concerns about traffic and congestion, LA City Councilman David Ryu wanted Frank Gehry to scale down his Sunset Strip project.
Last night, Councilman Ryu got his wish.
Townscape Partners agreed to reduce the size of the tallest of five buildings from 234 feet to 178 feet, Curbed reports.
The city's Planning and Land Use Committee voted yesterday to reject four appeals filed against the project in exchange for the concession.
Townscape Partners also agreed to reduce the number of housing units from 249 to 229 and increase the number designated for low-income tenants to 38 from 28. The developer also will build wider, 15-foot sidewalks.
The plan is to construct five buildings between Havenhurst Drive and Crescent Heights Boulevard near the Sunset Strip. Frank Gehry is designing the project for Townscape Partners.
The project was approved by the Planning Commission last July.
The development would include residences and a bank, a public plaza and a restaurant. [Curbed]
