Back in 2008, Avison Young principal Randy Starr repped RPA in a lease at Playa Vista that was one of LA's largest that year—but the ad firm wound up staying in Santa Monica. Fast-foward to today, he's now looking for 200k SF in Playa for RPA. (If at first you don't succeed, Playa Vista.) The deal is only one that epitomizes this hot market, which we'll be highlighting at tomorrow morning's Bisnow Silicon Beach: The Rise of Playa Vista event. Randy, who's one of our all-star panelists, is also working on a 30k SF deal for PCR Services there and recently completed a 13k SF deal for Whisper Text in Venice and 14k SF for Science Inc in Santa Monica. If he weren't in commercial real estate, this amateur chef still dreams of working in a hot milieu—the kitchen of his very own restaurant.
